Tribes 2 - Packs

There are two types of packs:

i) Backpacks which are permanently on your back until you die or trade them for something else.
ii) Deployable packs which you can carry one of and use once.

To use a pack press 'R' to turn on/off. The ammo and energy packs however are always in use. When players die they drop their packs allowing you to pick them up :)

I
Ammo Pack
Function: Increases your ammo load. This pack approximately doubles the amount of ammo you can carry for each weapon. A Juggernaut armoured with this pack can last a lot longer in the battlefield!
Energy Pack
Function: Expands the energy bar. This can give players longer flying times. Useful if a player wants to have extra burst of speed when trying to capture the enemy flag. Also, players using the laser rifle will auto-buy this pack.
Jammer Pack
Function: Makes you invisible to enemy radar. Using this piece of kit you won't be detected by the sensors of an enemy base or by enemy equipment. Any teammates nearby will be within the jamming zone you create around yourself once the pack is on. This pack makes it a hell of a lot easier to sneak into the enemy base.
Repair Pack
Function: Repairs things! You can repair yourself, other players, base defences etc. Repair packs can be found within or around most bases. More details on repairing can be found here.
Shield Pack
Function: Uses your energy bar to take damage. Very useful for defenders who can sit on the flag with juggernaut armour and a full shield! When your energy bar is at zero you'll start taking damage as normal, but remember your energy bar regenerates :).
Cloak Pack
Function: Invisibility Once activated the pack makes the wearer invisible. This only lasts as long as the user has energy left to fuel the pack. With the cloak you can enter bases undetected - but motion detectors will still pick you up. Any turrets which are near a motion sensor will likewise pick you up - so be careful. Also when running outside don't presume you're totally undetectable. As you run you'll kick up dirt off the ground and an eagle eyed defender will spot this. If possible hop towards your objective to eliminate any possible signs of your attack.

Cloak packs are an excellent way to attack the enemy generators. You can also use them to enter the base and hit the enemy flag carrier with the shock lance (one hit in the back kills!) and return your team's flag :).

Deployable packs are discussed in the deployables section (next page).
