Tribes 2 - Online Options To access "Online" insert the CD and on
the menu select "Online", or click on the shortcut on your desktop (It can be located on your START menu).
Once
you enter "Tribes 2 Online" the game will first check for
announcements, and then patches. If there are any new patches the game will
prompt you to download them, or if there are none you'll be taken to
the login screen... Note: All changes from each patch to the next can always be found in the "UpdatePatch.txt" file located in your Tribes2\GameData\ folder.

Here is where you login. Every player has a free account. It's used to help
you keep details about yourself in the game (more on this later), and to take
part in the online community.
If your new you'll have to select Create
New Account.
|
Some notes on creating a new account:
- Your account name is never seen. This is only displayed to you when you login.
- Your "warrior name" is the name "other players" will see. When you play the
game or post on the forums / join chat your warrior name
will be shown. "There can be only one !" as the highlander would say
and this is the same for Tribes 2. If your favourite name is taken fear not for
you can create an "alias". Click here for more info.
- A password will need to be entered twice. I'd suggest added a few numbers to
your password to make it a bit more secure.
- CD KEY. This is to confirm you own the game! Enter this in carefully. This is
the ONLY time you'll have to enter your cd key. Never give your cd key to anyone
else. Treat it as you would your bank card.
- Your email address will be needed. This is to help you when you forget your
password because you can click a handy "Email me my password" link on
the login screen.
- If you're over 13 press the button and then finally press submit. Job done :).
Unlike most games, Tribes 2 gives you a range of community options and
features all accessible via the "Community Browser (pictured above). The
features are arranged side by side below (game, news, forums, chat, browser),
with settings options available by clicking the LAUNCH button.
The GAME area gives you access to your player set-up. This is similar to
what you'll find in the "LAN Game" area in solo play, but with an
added "Jump to Player Page" button which is a short cut to a page of
information about you that other players can view. Each player has one.
Clicking the "Join" tab will take you
to the server lists.
Check out the latest Tribes 2 news, from the game creators and other players
alike.
These contain a range of forums allowing you to read and post messages to
other players.
This is Tribes 2 internal email and has nothing to do with any email
accounts you used to sign up to Tribes 2. Think of this as an internal messaging
system where you can contact other players.
Chat to other players.
 |
The main community browser. Here's where you create a page about yourself.
It holds details about you, like the date you joined the Tribes 2 community and which
tribe your currently in. Other features include a "buddy list" and
search functions so you can look for other tribes and players within the
community. |

You'll probably want a closer look so click the image left for a bigger
view. Everything is self explanatory apart
from the filters. Depending on where you live in the world you'll want to select
a filter for that region so that only local servers are displayed and not every
single Tribes 2 server in the world :). |
