FreddysHouse Guides - Operation Flashpoint

Operation Flashpoint - In my mind it's one of the best war simulation money can buy.  In this game you'll start off as a lone soldier in a small squad where your leader will bark orders at you, which must be obeyed.   You'll then slowly move on to lead your own squad, drive one of the many cars, trucks, and tanks available in the game, as well as fly helicopters and the feared A-10 Thunderbolt jet.

The game comes into its own when you see the actions of your friendly troops and the enemies.  The AI has to be seen to be believed, reacting to threats as real troops would, and covering their own men within a fire fight.

Operation Flashpoint simulates warfare as it is. If you're shot you'll bleed and you will die.  There is no second chances, so missions have to be approached carefully.   You'll need to take cover and be constantly aware of your surroundings. When leading a squad you'll be responsible for their lives, and have to ensure you give the correct orders when required. Make no bones about it - this game is hard at times, but also very rewarding. Upon completing missions you'll feel like you've achieved something, especially in the campaign mode where a story will unfold...
