Counter Strike - Weapons Thanks to Bigfoot for the cs weapon guide. Geist and Jeffrey Lau, for the additional detailed weapon stats. [SO]Tikka for the crosshair screenshots, and the CS team for the use of their weapon images. Sub-Machine Guns
Detail : The most popular weapon in
the CS game, deceptively useful for one so cheap. Picked by most people in
the 2nd round (when usually everyone has enough money to buy it) it can
also be a good 1st weapon regardless of the round if your trying to save
money for your favourite gun. It has a slight kick back but its fast
firing rate make it deadly if aimed well in close-mid range combat and
useful against any opponent. H&K MP5 Navy. By Geist (description)
and Jeffrey Lau (stats) The MP5 Navy remains a very popular weapon in Counterstrike, it is effective in every situation bar long-range combat, its high rate of fire and moderate damage make it a great choice for its price. It has been downgraded slightly since Beta 6.2, as it was deadly, although its power has been reduced and recoil increased a tad, bursts of about 3 rounds will do the job nicely at longer ranges, up close, you can afford to go full-auto, and always remember to aim for the head! Overall, the MP5 is a good, solid weapon. Steyr Tactical Machine Pistol (TMP) (CT's only)
Detail : A cross between the MP5
and the pistol Counter Terrorists Start with it spits out bullets very
fast and very accurately for what is the cheapest "2nd stage"
weapon. The lower kick than the MP5 means that it is favoured by LPB's as
they can use it swiftly an accurately just like the pistol. Steyr Tactical Machine Pistol (Silenced). By Geist (description) and Jeffrey Lau (stats) Details about how stats are calculated here. *Steyr TMP
Detail : The most expensive of this
type of weapon, it almost costs the same as the cheapest Rifle available
(the AK47). Reason for this is that it spits out bullets faster than
any other gun available, and carries a massive 50 bullets per clip. Whilst
they won't do as much damage as other guns, it's a very powerful weapon
for close combat and those with lower pings as well as storming positions. Fabrique Nationale P-90. By Geist
(description) and Jeffrey Lau
(stats) The P-90 is a mixed bag of tricks, sometimes seeming useless, and sometimes seeming lethal, never as popular as the MP5, but it can still cause serious damage if you are willing to take a few rounds to get used to it. The huge rate of fire causes a big recoil, so you must take that into account when using it, a good tactic at close range is to aim for the torso, and let the recoil carry the gun up to the enemies head, with the high damage the P-90 causes, they will be floored in seconds. With more distanced combat, the usual burst firing tactics apply. But the reload rate is quite slow for an assault weapon, and many have died because their opponents have heard them empty the magazine, then just ran round the corner and killed them while they are helpless. So always remember to keep a full clip and reload when safe, because the ammo advantage over the other SMGs means that in a straight fight, they will be running out of ammo before you. Ingram MAC-10 (Terrorists only)
Detail : Added in Beta 6, it has
yet to win many fans. It feels like a heavier version of the Tactical
Machine Pistol, but doesn't do as much damage as you would expect.
Deceptively accurate over long distance, its main use really though is in
close quarters combat where it can do a bit of damage if used in short
controlled bursts. As it is T's only, might be a reasonable weapon to
choose for 2nd rounds but many people now seem to skip this class of
weapon on certain maps where only this is available to T's and not the
MP5. MAC-10. By Geist (description)
and Jeffrey Lau (stats) This Terrorist-only weapon is the alternative to the Steyr TMP, it is similar in performance, but a tad more powerful, so a lot of what has been said about the TMP can be said here. If you concentrate on headshots, burst firing, and don't try any long-range combat, then give it a try. But most people prefer the superior MP5 which is only an extra $100.
Detail : Very similar to the MP5 navy, although the UMP holds less shots per clip and takes ages to reload, but each shot packs more of a punch than the MP5. Cost: $1700 Back to top
