Counter Strike - Voice Comms

Version 1.3 of Counter Strike brings us Voice communications. Now you can
happily chat to fellow teammates in game ! There's no need to sit there
typing out words and being killed mid sentence, now you can use your voice
:).
How to use voice comms
1- Make sure your headset works. Plug it in and talk via the mic. The
headphones / speakers should echo back your voice.
If you don't have a mic yet have a look in your local computer shop.
2- When you install CS 1.3 you'll be asked to tweak your voice
comms setup. Do this, although the defaults should be fine.
3- Now load up CS and go to the "Controls"
section. Assign a key to the "Voice comms" so you can
press it in game, and talk. (I'd recommend the CAPS LOCK key).
Voice Comms in game
When a player uses his comms a icon will appear over his head (as
shown left) and wait for it... his lips also move ! This has to be seen to
do the justice it deserves so I won't be showing a pic of it here. Get on
a server and look for yourself :).
This icon also
appears on the far right of your screen to indicate who is talking.
Note: When you talk the speaker icon will display on the bottom
right of your screen.
How to Mute / UnMute players
Call up the scoreboard (default key tab) and right click your mouse
button. You'll see a cursor appear which allows you to click on the
scoreboard.
In the scoreboard image at the top of this page you'll see 3
icons:

Clicking
on the speaker icons will mute a player. Clicking on the mute icon will
unmute them.
Watch what you say !
Voice comms are a good tool, and offer a range of tactical advantages.
If you're under fire then call for support. If you spot an enemy give his
location and so on, but...
Think what you are saying before you say it. Swearing at another players
or abusing others will not be welcomed and server admins will ban you for
it.
Try to use the comms sensibly and you'll enhance your enjoyment of CS, but
abuse them and don't be surprised if you find you're banned from your
favourite servers.
