Counter Strike - Map Analysis - cs_Militia

Team Tactics for ... cs_Militia
By RtG

Map summary...

A reasonably big map so clan games will generally be low scoring, Militia is also one of the most balanced maps affording neither Terrorist or Counter-Terrorist a huge advantage.

Terrorist tactics...

First of all look at the plan of militia, ideally you should base your defensive positions at bottlenecks. Find places where you can force the CT to come through small gaps one at a time, ambush them, then when you have a significant numerical advantage you can go hunting.

As with most maps a clan should vary their tactics each round, as Terrorists you have two main choices: Do you (1) Prevent the CT's from entering the building, or (2) Defend from within the building.

If you have a weapons advantage (ie. greater no. of rifles) (1) is the best choice. However if you do not have a weapons advantage, or it is the early in the game, or you feel the opposition of a better quality than yourself then (2) is the best choice.

Suggestions...

(1)-Roof:

Split your squad up so that 4 are guarding the front of the building from the roof and the other 2 wait at the top of the FIRST sewer entrance. If the CT go through the sewers and ignore the first exit the 2 terrorists should follow them to the second - as well as reporting the CT to the 4 T on the roof.

(2)-Garage:

If you're out-gunned then the best place to set up a defensible position is in the garage, bring the 2 hostages in the bar area into the garage, turn off the lights and wait for the CT. 4 T should defend from downstairs while the other 2 guard the vent.

(2)-Standard:

Defend the ground floor of the building. 2 T guard front door, 2 guard the back door. 1 guard the vent in the garage and the other guards the stairs by the TV. Whichever way the CT come they will only be able to come 1 at a time so they will suffer heavy losses. This is a good tactic if you can't afford rifles but have MP5's and P90's.

Of course these are only suggestions and some clans may prefer to attack the CT initially.

Counter-Terrorist tactics...

Militia requires a squad to display a multitude of skills, if the terrorists use the roof and outside of the building then rifles are essential, you may even be able to win without venturing into the cramp building. However if the terrorists stay in the building and set up good defensive positions then submachine guns and grenades are the order of the day. Certainly as soon as you enter the bottom floor of the building throw flashbangs in (see the weapons section for tips on grenade use).

It would probably be a good idea to split your squad into two teams, ideally into 2 man and 4 man teams. The 2 man team would advance cautiously through the sewer (mainly to guard against rushing T trying to get round the back) while the other 4 go above ground.

Avoid sending your whole team through the sewers, it is very easy to get trapped and pinned down and with the improved shotgun in beta 6 it could become a deathtrap for the unprepared. So unless the enemy squad is camped on the roof with 6 AWP's always use at least half of the squad to attack (or maybe just guard) the front of the building.

Suggestions...

Standard:

2 CT go through the sewers and camp at the long length of sewer by the first ladder. The other bug squad should advance to the large area in front of the building. Wait for a while in case of rushing terrorists then then big group should either go through the front door or go up the ladder and enter the building from first floor. The second group could either head to the cameras or enter the building from the rear.

Rush:

As soon as the round starts simply charge en masse through the front of the building guns blazing and prayer mats at the ready. If you don't think the enemy are very well organized this is probably quite effective, but if the terrorists are organized this could be a bit.... risky. With the arrival of Beta 6 this may be even more of a risky tactic.

Other useful map hints...

As CT when going round the side of the building get a team mate to give you a bunk up over the top of the fence, that way you can surprise any terrorists who are guarding the fence door.

As T if you have a Desert Eagle in the first round stand behind a door, close enough so that it won't be able to open properly but not too close that you open it. Then as soon as the door is opened from the other side simply fire through the door. Later in the game this wouldn't be a great idea as many players fire through doors as a matter of course before opening them.
