Map summary...
This is a
general look at public server play on docks. Docks is
a well balanced map with either side having a good chance of winning.

Default
Start positions of hostages:
Note: Chances are quick thinking Terrorists will move the
Hostages from the basement to the roof where they can hold the position
better.
- Two in Basement
- Two in main Terrorist holding room
Main
Flash points on the map:
The Corner
This is the point where most of the first few minutes of action will take
place. If the terrorists are fast enough they can get around this corner
before the Counter-Terrorists do, and be ready to ambush the them. Most CT
players will be armed with flash grenades to lob around the corner first
before entering it to avoid being sniped at by any Terrorists who are
lying in wait.
The Sewers
Usually a few CTs will from the start position dive into the water and enter the
sewers via the pipe. Before the CTs can reach the
first corner in the sewers there is a chance a terrorist will pop out and
start firing at them. If not then around the 2nd corner by the ladder
there will usually be
a terrorist(s) lying in wait. They will either stay there and pin down the
CTs or fire a few shots and run back to the basement room.
The back entrances
From the start positions 1-2 CTs and Ts may enter the water and swim
to each the other teams start position, which will mean contact in the
water. If one side do not send any players via this route then the other
team will be able to get behind the CT/Ts position and attack them from
behind. This is especially deadly for the CTs. If the Ts can get behind
them they can ambush any CTs who try to get back with the hostages. (Pic
shows a T exiting water in CTs start position)
If
your a CT or a terrorist, when you arrive near the docks don't stick your
head out of the water or climb out of water in the open. Chances are the
enemy are there waiting to blow your head off. Instead before you enter
the docks area take some air then dive down. Swim under the docks, and get
out at the far end if your a CT. If your a T then swim and get out either
In the place shown in the pic left, or exit the water in-between some
crates.

Swimming under the docks not only keeps you out of sight of
the enemy, but if your a CT you can swim under the rescue point to save
the hostages and save you taking the risk of exiting the water and being
killed.
Tips and Tactics for lone Terrorist players
-
At the start of the round you don't have to follow the
other terrorist players. If they all head one way try covering another
route mentioned in the 'flash points' above.
-
The roof is a key position and will be hard for CTs to
attack you while your up upon it. From the position shown in the pic
below, you can pin the CTs down
who enter via the corner route.

The CT's will snipe back at Terrorists on the roof, but your quite
safe unless a CT gets through the vent which is the only access point
to the roof. So if your sniping always listen out for the noise of a CT
climbing the ladder :).
-
Camping is a tactic and on this map can work very
well. Since there are two hostages in this room and the job of the CTs is to
get the hostages camp it :).
From the position in the pic
left I can
spot the enemy entering via either door. (If you stay here always look closely to the
door on the left. You'll always see the arm of a CT as he rounds
the corner just before he enters the doorway to the room your in. This
will give you 2-3 seconds to be
ready for him. So when he tries to enter the room fire away :).
There is of course another way into this area. Via the vent near the
green crates, so always keep listening out for movement.

Or stay on the rails of the walkway and strafe towards the hostages
(as shown in pic to the left) and look down at the green crates. If
it's all clear, strafe back to the position in the pic above. This
tactic will not work all the time and a good CT player will be ready
for you if he sees you there every round.
-
Another good spot is behind the door with the hostages
in the basement.

If a CT climbs the ladder then you'll be in a perfect to fire at them.
Or if a CT enters the corridor to the door your hiding behind you can
quickly pop around and catch him off guard :).
Tips and Tactics for lone Counter-Terrorist players
-
There are three routes, which are highlighted in the 'flash
points' at the start of this page. Most CTs will take the main route and head for
the 'corner area'. This leaves the pipe (entrance to sewers) and the
'back entrance'. If no one is taking either of these two entrances
either go that way yourself, or camp on the roof.
From the pic (left) a player can cover the whole CT teams back, and stop
any attack made by terrorists from the water. If no one is here or all
CTs head along the main route then the CTs will have a harder time trying to
get hostages back to the hostage rescue points, since the area will be
covered with terrorists.
-
If your heading for 'The Corner' take grenades.
Then either climb onto the roof from the CT start position and head
towards 'The Corner', and be ready to rain death from above on an T's who may have
rushed towards the CTs position. Also from the roof you can cover any
CTs who are below and have started to move around the corner. When your
ready climb down off roof and join your team mates in the assault on 'The Corner'
itself.
-
On 'The Corner' there is a door which gives access to
the sewers, but
be careful. If you plan to take this route there is a good chance a
terrorist will be below lying in wait. Either lob a flash grenade down
first, then
climb down, or position yourself so you fall down the hole instead of
climbing which will catch any Terrorist by surprise and you should be able
to fight back.
