Counter Strike - Map Analysis - cs_Assault
Map Summary: This map is based upon a warehouse, where hostages are being held in an office/backroom.
Assault on Public servers is rarely found a CT dominated. The design of the level makes it only possible to enter the warehouse through – A vent in the roof, a side door a or the main, large entrance. Terrorists are usually fount dominating as the CTs have little choices in the compact battle areas. Terrorist basically have to camp on the elevated positions and can win the round easily, but CTs have to use tactics to the full to overcome terrorist defenses. Hostage Locations: All four of the hostages are found in the backroom, in pairs. One group to the right of the doorway as you walk in, and another round the corner. Generally, Terrorists don’t move hostages, due to the fact that the CTs can only get to them through the double doors.
Basic Map information: The warehouse has 3 entrances. One on the roof, a side door and a large main door. The one on the rood is a vent, and splits in two. One of then leads to outside of the doors to the hostages. The other leads onto the walkway. The backdoor needs to be pushed to open it (note – the door does make a loud squeak when opened). The large main entrance is open, making it easy for the enemy to see you before you see him, but it is the quickest way to move into the warehouse. There are 3 security cameras available for each team. The terrorists’ monitors are on the wall next to the door through to the hostages. The CTs’ are in the back of the truck near the starting position. Terrorist Tactics for Lone Players: On the first round or two, buy desert eagles if you want to defend either the door or the vent. When defending the vent, stay at the end, and keep jumping. If you see a CT, try and judge where he is, and fire through the vent, and if other players are smart enough to notice what is going on, they may help by letting a few rounds off into the vent too. While defending the door, make sure you stick in the blind spot behind where the door opens. CTs cannot see you, and if you know they are there, just shoot. (see below)
The large door can be easily be defended with your default glock on burst fire mode, as the two points on the map are elevated, meaning it is easier to get a headshot in. You should always see the CT before they see you. (see Below)
The last place to keep an eye on is the vent by the hostage doors. There is a breakable grate blocking the way, so you should keep your ears open, staying on the balcony through the hole in the wall. Later on in the game, you should keep on the balcony areas, or behind the crates by the backdoor. You can easily watch your team-mates’ back as there are two main ways to get up to the balconies, they are the ladder by the backdoor and the ramp on the other side of the building. The only other way up to the balcony area is the vent over the hostage doors. The breaking of the vent is an early warning system, and can often be used as a distraction, so be on the look out for a rush of CTs. Recommended weapons for this map are rifles. The mp5 also could be used in early rounds, but range is really needed for this level. This map, there is a small need for snipers, as you can keep at a long range from your target. For recommended sniping positions, see map below.
From the ground:
From Balconies:
When Things are going well: Stick to large rifles; use a Sig for multi-purpose, and an AWP for quick sniping. If the CT team is performing poorly, take advantage, rush them and take them by surprise. Watch out for CTs sniping through the mesh doors just outside the main door to the warehouse, you may overlook them. When
things aren’t going well: Stick to lower range weapons, such as sub machineguns or shotguns. Keep close to the main entrances for effective use of shorter-range weapons. If you are quick enough, get into the vent and hide just up the ladder with a shotgun, then, oncoming CTs will be dead before they even know you are there. Counter-Terrorist Tactics for Lone Players: On the first round, buy a better pistol, and rush the Ts. Make sure that you do have backup from other team members by using radio commands. Enter through either the large front door or the backdoor. There should be a terrorist or 2 on the balcony, and one or two just above you where you enter through the large door. When opening the squeaky door, wait until the last second before it closes to go through, and then quickly check if there is a T behind it. Over the next couple of rounds, you should find that it is getting harder and harder to get into the warehouse. If you have won the first few rounds, you could keep going for the rest of the level, but you will have to work for it. Buy either an M4A1 or a Steyr Aug, due to their range. A good idea is to take advantage of the security camera monitors in the back of the truck. Let your team know where there are Ts, and where and when it is safe to enter. You giving orders could win you the round. Buy smoke grenades and flash bangs for if you ever get into the vent successfully. Take the rout to the left up the ladder. When you hear a firefight down below, break open the vent and toss your smoke grenade down. Terrorists will put a lot of attention on the smoke, so move as quickly as you can out of the other vent. Hopefully you should catch the Ts by surprise, taking them out quickly. If this attack is timed with the rest of your team attacking down below, then it should run perfectly. Sniping for CTs is very limited, and also very hard. The problem is that when you can see one of their players on the other side of the warehouse from the front door, most of their team can probably see you. A good idea is to throw a smoke grenade in front of the doorway, and then rush to behind the mesh doors, as they act as a sort of camouflage. Another position is the corner of the door. You should be able to pick off a vent guard quickly from there.
When things are going well: Rush the Ts in a combined assault from all 3 of the entrances. Keep to rifles for effective assaults. Don’t bother about hostages unless completely necessary. When things aren’t going well: Give commands from the back of the truck, using the security cameras. Make use of flash bangs and smoke grenades. Keep HE grenades away from hostage areas.
